Forever HOMES for PAWS is dedicated to helping pets find forever homes in as many ways as possible. We’ve established several programs that help us and others achieve that goal.
We have more details about each of our programs on separate pages, but here is a brief description of each.
We recognize there are many organizations that are dedicated to helping animals in one way or another. Some have similar goals to ours. Other concentrate on specific niches that we are unable to address. We do not view these organizations as “competitors,” but as allies that complement and help in our efforts to find homes for pets. We help join these organizations in collective efforts to help in our mutual goals.
Not many people are aware of the efforts by many who go to great lengths to keep animals from being euthanized simply because “their time has run out” in the shelter. There exists multiple, grass root level organizations that help find no-kill shelters, foster families, forever homes and other temporary sheltering for these unfortunate animals. To facilitate this process, they’ve established networks of volunteer “transporters” that agree to transport one or more animals from one location to another. Sometimes this can be thousands of miles, so the network organizes and coordinates short legs of transport to help the animals to their destinations. Freedom Riders is dedicated to creating awareness of these organizations, helping them with their recruiting of transporters, and providing safe harbor for pets in need of immediate rescue.
Sometimes, in the midst of unexpected change, pets are forgotten or cast aside. This happens in medical, divorce, sudden military deployments, emergency travel, etc. Often, boarding is too expensive or unavailable. Many senior citizens find great comfort in their pets, but when disaster strikes and the owners are unexpectedly hospitalized or incapacitated, there is often no place for their cherished pets to be cared for. THC is there to help coordinate temporary care for pets where other traditional care is unavailable or unaffordable.
